GENDER EQUALITY BY SAM VAN DE HEG

On days like today, whilst raising our little ones, there is no time for the whole boy/girl’s stuff discussion anymore. Everyone owns the right to their own choice of colour and toys to play with.
However, we also see a tendency where certain groups seem to have a lot of power and dictate their people on how to dress and behave. To me this means a limitation of freedom, when you can’t be who you want to be and do what you like to do.
But actually, in a very mild way, aren’t we doing somewhat the same? Our society dictates our children what to wear, blue for a boy and pink for a girl. People still find it silly when a boy is rocking pink trousers for the day and often get stared at. Mum must be colour blind, right? Time to break through these barriers! All people own the right to wear all colours.
